Ready for 2009: Syed Kamall, Graham Postles, Charles Tannock, Marina Yannakoudakis,
JP Floru and Warwick Lightfoot in Milton Keynes

London's team spirit

The Conservative team of prospective London Euro candidates joined up at the MEPs Making a Difference Conference in Milton Keynes.
It was a chance to exchange ideas and discuss the 2009 campaign.
Topics covered included economic reform and globalisation, international development and global warming. The current London MEP's Charles Tannock and Syed Kamall joined candidates Graham Postles, Marina Yannakoudakis, JP Floru and Warwick Lightfoot.

Battling for job flexibility

The UK has been forced to accept the EU's Temporary Agency Workers Directive, after years of opposing it.
It means agency workers will get the same pay and conditions as permanent staff after only 12 weeks. Firms say it could lead to job cuts.
Marina Yannnakoudakis is determined to stand up for business.
She said: "Small business need to have flexibility and be able to move with the market."

On the line to Henley!
Marina Yannakoudakis joined the ranks of telephone canvassers during the Henley by-election campaign. Marina said: "Henley sent a strong message to Brown - time's up for Labour."
Conservative John Howell had a majority of 10,116 and Labour were in a shameful fifth place.
Fundraisers needed
The London Euro Elections team will be meeting on July 19 to discuss strategy - particularly how to raise a fighting fund. To join the fighting fund committee contact marinafor2009@london.com.
IT'S TIME EU TOOK NO FOR AN ANSWER
Arrogant leaders shun Irish referendum result
EU leaders in Brussels are refusing to take the Irish no vote on the Lisbon Treaty for an answer.
They are pressing the Irish for a second referendum, telling them to get it right this time - instead of accepting the result of the democratic vote in which the treaty was rejected by 53.4% to 46.6%.
Arrogant Valery Giscard d’Estaing, ex-French President and author of the abandoned EU Constitution said: “The Lisbon treaty is not dead …. It is imperative that they vote again.”
Marina Yannakoudakis is continuing to fight for a UK referendum. She said: “The fate of British sovereignty is still under threat as Gordon Brown clings on and
continues to ignore public opinion.
 “Brown’s u-turns are legendary,
but his broken promise to hold a referendum is just one more example of this Prime Minister’s lack of principles.
“Ireland has been the only country allowed to have a referendum on this treaty, and the answer was a clear no.
“The German minister of the interior, Wolfgang Schaeuble, said ‘a few Irish cannot decide on behalf of 495 million Europeans’. Well, he’s right, let us decide for ourselves and give us the referendum which ensures our democracy. However, all is not lost, and the Irish referendum has won us some time.
“I would urge everyone to join Iwantareferendum.com and continue the fight the treaty.
