Two important decisions on Europe in June
Meeting the lunch bunch

Eat and greet: Marina with Cities Chairwoman Vivien Mitchell and Secretary Sally Tooth.

Marina Yannakoudakis spoke to a lunchtime meeting of the Cities of London and Westminster Conservative Women’s group about her role as a prospective MEP candidate.
The audience aired concerns about the EU and the need for a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
Marina told the audience there was a need for continued pressure on this government to hold a referendum on the EU treaty which is effectively the same as the EU constitution. In addition to this the ladies were interested in topics such as the fishing policy and the euro. Marina confirmed she was against the UK joining the Euro.
Two vital decisions about the Lisbon Treaty will be made in June.
The High Court will hold a judicial review of campaigner Stuart Wheeler's attempt to sue Gordon Brown for breaking his promise to hold a referendum on the EU constitution.
Mr Wheeler claims there is no material difference between the Lisbon Treaty and the abandoned constitution. The case will be

considered on June 9 and 10. Meanwhile the House of Lords will be voting on the Lisbon Treaty on June 11. It is hoped they will get the chance to vote on an amendment calling for a referendum.
Marina Yannakoudakis recently discussed the Lisbon treaty with referendum campaigner and new London Assembly member Victoria Borwick. Marina said: "These are two big chances to win a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
"Labour promised to hold a referendum on a constitution and have broken that promise. The Lisbon Treaty is so similar we should get a chance to vote on that too.
“I wish Mr Wheeler all the best with his court battle.
"And I hope the Lords will vote for a referendum after the Commons failed to give the public what they want.”
One more big decision on the EU takes place in June. Ireland is due to hold a referendum on June 12.
