Commenting on the hunt for people missing since the 1974 conflict on Cyprus:
On January 1, 2009
“There are almost 2000 people missing – sons, fathers and friends of both Greek and Turkish Cypriots. They deserve to be found and given proper respect. Their families need to have somewhere to go to mourn. This is not a political issue it’s a humanitarian one. The EU has given £1.8million to help, but time is running out. They rely on eye witnesses to find where the mass graves are, and 35 years down the line there are fewer survivors remaining. So it’s important the CMP’s work is carried out quickly.”
